Terms and definition

3.1  Silk quilts

The quilt filling includes 50% of mulberry silk and (or) tussah silk.  It is divided into purely natural silk quilt and mixed silk quilt.  Purely natural silk quilt has 100% of natural silk.  Mixed silk quilt has 50% of natural silk.  Lower than 50% of natural silk filling can not be called as silk quilt.

3.2  Silk floss

It takes by-products processed by mulberry silk cocoon, tussah silk cocoon or reeling silk to process into flocculent products.  It is divided into hand-made silk floss and machine-made silk floss according to different processing modes.  As per different length, it is divided into long silk floss, medium/long silk floss, short silk floss.

3.3  Long silk floss

It takes whole silkworm cocoon as raw material to make silk floss through certain processing craft.  Among them, there are very few cut natural silk.

3.4  Medium/long silk floss

It takes by-products processed by silk cocoon or reeling silk as raw material to make silk floss through certain processing craft.  Silk length are basically 25cm.

3.5  Short silk floss

It takes by-products processed by silk cocoon or reeling silk as raw material to make silk floss through certain processing craft.  Silk length are mostly 25cm.

3.6  Wadding cover

Wadding cover is used to directly wrap, fix the filling.

3.7  Floss block

If natural silk is not stretched fully, it curls into strip floss with 5mm width and 5mm length in wadding.  Too much sericin residue will be coagulated into hard floss block, otherwise it forms into soft floss block.

3.8  Silk ribbon

Multiple pieces of silk parallelly stretch to form maximum size of 5mm floss block in wadding.  Too much sericin residue will be coagulated into hard silk ribbon.

4.  Requirements

4.1  Internal quality, outlook quality, craft quality are required for natural silk quilt.

4.2  Quality grade of natural silk quilt is divided into superior, first grade and qualified product.

4.3  Internal quality requirements of natural silk quilt are stipulated according to table 1.
